Zoo Vet: Endangered Animals is the latest in Real Life Games® from Legacy Interactive. The reality-based PC/Mac game is the follow-up to the 2005 hit Zoo Vet and has already garnered a coveted 2007 Editor’s Choice Award from the Children’s Technology Review. The game features 30 scenarios created by real life veterinarians in which players treat 20 different endangered animals including a lion, elephant and panda in situations ranging from setting an eagle’s broken wing to saving a crocodile that has swallowed a penny. Three levels of play teach animal lovers about actual medical tools, animal statistics, vet techniques and true-to-life zoo maladies while trivia, memory and hidden object mini-games help unlock nearly 100 beautiful photos and video segments.
A contribution based on sales of Zoo Vet: Endangered Animals goes to benefit the African Wildlife Foundation, up to $25,000 in total support. ReCellular has pioneered a cell phone collection program that focuses on Africa and the African Wildlife Foundation to conserve this continent’s unparalleled wildlife and wild lands. As the leader in cell phone reuse and recycling, ReCellular believes that this is an easy way to fund philanthropic efforts in Africa, reduce potentially harmful waste and bring new technology to developing regions. You can further all three objectives by recycling your old mobile phone. An estimated 500 million “retired” phones are sitting around in drawers, closets and who knows where else. At present less than 10% get recycled.
By donating your old phone(s) to ReCellular you can also help AWF by indicating the African Wildlife Foundation as your charity of choice (from the drop down menu) on their website. Sending in the phone is a snap: simply print the pre-paid AWF shipping label from your computer, affix the label to envelope/box/bag and drop it in the mail. ReCellular will donate $1 dollar to AWF for every phone that can be re-sold (to developing countries as a low-cost alternative to a brand new phone). Any phones that cannot be re-sold are recycled in an environmentally friendly way. Visit www.lifelineforafrica.com.

AWF has joined with Soundprints, a licensee of the Smithsonian Institution and other major licensors, to create exciting stories of animal adventures based on the real-life experiences and observations of AWF conservation staff. The stories take place across our African Heartlands
and feature animals that are studied and protected through our various research projects. Soundprints contributes 2% of retail sales to AWF.
The storybooks have corresponding stuffed toys and read-along audio tapes (CDs) narrated by AWF staff to bring six animal species alive for young children. Each book is created with curatorial accuracy, high quality and the Smithsonian endorsement, making the collection unique in the U.S. market. Educational as well as entertaining, the Soundprints series has won the Parent's Choice Award for 5 consecutive years.

In 2004 Starbucks and AWF teamed up to build awareness for conservation of the wild lands and wildlife in Africa and explore new ways to bring sustainable coffee growing practices to Kenya and Tanzania. AWF's Samburu, Kilimanjaro and Virunga heartlands all contain east Africa's most productive and highest quality coffee farms, and currently coffee farmers have the capacity to produce higher volumes of greater quality coffee but are constrained by a myriad of factors. Coffee has a high revenue earning potential if farmers have access to credit, training and extension services, and assistance with marketing.
Through this partnership with Starbucks, opportunities are being created for coffee farmers to improve their livelihoods by increasing the quality and value of their coffee crop, provide support for better husbandry of coffee and harvesting that will serve to increase the level of awareness
amongst coffee farmers in east Africa for certified coffee husbandry. To learn more about Starbucks corporate social responsibility programs, visit www.starbucks.com
AWF is working with BoGo Light to bring cheap, durable, and low-impact handheld lights to communities in wildlife areas around Africa. The BoGo Light utilizes solar-rechargable batteries to provide an inexpensive source of light. For countless many in Africa, light is a precious commodity and kerosene lamps are typically the only source; furthermore, they are not easily affordable, not safe and contribute to global warming.
When you purchase a BoGo (“Buy One, Give One”) Light, AWF will also receive one (1) light to give to game scouts, students and other conservation partners in Africa. Additionally, AWF will receive $1 dollar from SunNight Solar Enterprises for every light sold. It’s a technology that benefits people and the earth alike.
Visit www.bogolight.com. Be sure to select the African Wildlife Foundation as the recipient of choice on the BoGo Light website.
