Joanna first joined the AWF team in 1996, though her experience in economics, conservation, and strategic consulting goes back more than 30 years.

She has advised governments, multi- and bi-lateral agencies, NGOs, and commercial enterprises on conservation issues such as protected area management, environmental economics, environmental impact assessments, institutional development and support of environmental NGOs. Here at AWF, Joanna is a Vice President in charge of designing AWF’s technical programs. She seeks funding for AWF projects from government agencies and major foundations, meeting with governments and other stakeholders from around the world.

Joanna is responsible for ensuring that her Program Design team properly tracks and responds to funding opportunities, in order to provide maximal resources for AWF’s conservation efforts throughout Africa. Furthermore, she represents AWF in both conservation and development consortiums in order to promote AWF’s mission to various audiences and voice concerns with regard to legislative issues affecting conservation in Africa.
